BaseCamp isn’t your typical stuffy conference. We like to think of our summit as a kind of unconference—immersed in nature and a landing place for deep authenticity, connection, and collaboration.

We believe in horizontal learning, a peer-to-peer model where each of us are learning from one another in a dynamic, non-hierarchical structure that leads to greater personal and professional development.
Our Mission
The intent of BaseCamp is to serve administration, staff, and faculty practitioners holistically through reflective approaches to serving students and self-care; and to directly address oppressive systems of racism, colonialism, and punitive practices in higher education. We do this through community knowledge labs, horizontal learning, support of peers, and critical self-reflection to develop efficacious programs. This is an inclusive environment developed to allow personal and professional growth at any level of experience.
Since 2019, we’ve hosted our BaseCamp Prison Educator retreat in the stunning Tehachapi mountains.
